Sarah & Richie’s Intimate Santa Barbara Courthouse Elopement

May of 2024, I had the incredible pleasure of photographing Sarah and Richie’s intimate elopement at the historic Santa Barbara Courthouse. This beautiful venue, nestled in one of my all-time favorite cities, provided the perfect setting for their love story. With its Spanish-Moorish architecture and lush gardens, the Santa Barbara Courthouse is a stunning backdrop for any small wedding or elopement, and Sarah and Richie’s special day was no exception.

Sarah & Richie’s Elopement Day

Sarah and Richie’s elopement was a celebration filled with love, joy, and the presence of about 20 of their closest loved ones. They hired me for four hours of coverage to capture their intimate ceremony and the dinner that followed at a charming local restaurant along the waterfront.

The Ceremony

The ceremony took place in the picturesque Sunken Gardens of the Santa Barbara Courthouse. With its lush green lawns and stunning architectural backdrop, the venue was the perfect spot for an intimate exchange of vows. The weather was beautiful, mostly cloudy—my favorite type of lighting for a mid-day wedding—which provided the perfect conditions for capturing the true essence of the day.

The Celebration

Following the ceremony, we strolled through the scenic courthouse grounds, taking advantage of the myriad photo opportunities. The lush gardens, intricate archways, and historic murals offered a variety of stunning backdrops for their portraits. The celebration continued at a local waterfront restaurant, where Sarah and Richie enjoyed a delicious dinner with their loved ones. The relaxed, intimate atmosphere was filled with heartfelt toasts, laughter, and the joy of shared moments.
