Looking back at these photos of Alicia and Grant, it’s honestly wild to see how much their life has shifted since I first met them.
We’ve been through a lot of huge days together. It all started with their engagement session in Lake Tahoe, then their wedding in Monterey, and now here we are in a field in Santa Cruz, just months away from them meeting their baby boy. Getting to stick around for all these different versions of their relationship is easily the coolest part of this job.
Being a Santa Cruz maternity photographer, I get to see that specific kind of magic that happens during pregnancy. It’s that heavy, quiet anticipation where everything feels like it’s holding its breath.
The grass was that crazy vibrant green we only get for a short season in California, and the sun was doing that low, golden thing that makes everything feel a bit more still. We didn’t do anything stiff or over-posed; we just let them hang out and soak in these last few moments of it being just the two of them.
As a Santa Cruz family photographer, I know how fast this season disappears and you’re onto the next. One minute you’re marveling at the bump and the next, you’re holding a tiny human and can barely remember life before them. I’m just so glad I got to catch this chapter for them before their world flips upside down in the best way possible.
If you’re in that “any day now” window and want to document this version of your family before it changes forever, I’d love to get out there with you.
MEET THE WRITER
My heart and passion for this work is summed up by the act of service. From the first wedding I ever photographed to ones years later—I’ve yet to come down from the high of being part of a couple’s best day and putting it in digital form to look back on for a lifetime. I take my craft seriously, and that means serving you in all aspects on your wedding day, and the days leading up to it.

There’s nothing quite like springtime in San Jose. For a few magical months, the rolling hills of Silicon Valley transform into a vibrant, almost surreal shade of green—lush, alive, and full of promise. It’s hands-down my favorite time of year to shoot, and if you’ve ever driven through the foothills in March or April, you […]
