As I sit here, reflecting on my journey as a wedding photographer, I am filled with soooo much gratitude. I had an amazing opportunity that came my way, one that allowed me the pleasure of working with Kaity Biggar and Zach Shallcross, the couple who walked away hand in hand from the most recent season of ABC’s The Bachelor. Their journey on The Bachelor captured the hearts of many, and I, too, found myself drawn into their story. Little did I know that our paths would cross and I’d have the chance of capturing their love through my lens.
From the moment we connected, Kaity and I began planning for their engagement shoot. There was a lot of excitement and anticipation in the air as we planned the details of the day like where, when and what props we’d use. However, there were some unforeseen challenges that awaited me in Austin, Texas – thunderstorms. The forecast showed nothing but rain. Should we reschedule? Could we find an indoor location to work with? But something inside me nudged me to embrace the moody weather, we’d make do with whatever the weather was going to give us that day!
Arriving in Austin, I was checking the weather constantly. Nervous as the rain poured down without a break in sight. Kaity reached out suggesting a reschedule, but I didn’t have flexibility as I was heading on a plane to Greece the following day! Thank goodness they were willing to stick it out with me, little did we know what was in store for us.
Driving out into the storm, we stepped into Two Wishes Ranch, a breathtaking wedding venue just outside of Austin. The rain seemed relentless, but as we began our session the rain began to soften and luck was on our side. The rain that was dumping the entire day, seemed to calm and retreat, creating a perfectly romantic setting. It was as if the universe had conspired to create a moment of magic just for us.
Kaity and Zach, immersed in their love for one another, emanated a joy that was contagious. We laughed and shared stories, capturing precious moments that will forever be etched in their memories. As the rain gently sprinkled on us towards the end of our session, we knew it was a sign that our time together was coming to a close. The setting sun, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink, added a touch of ethereal beauty to the photographs.
Looking back, I am reminded of the tremendous growth and sense of fulfillment I have experienced in my journey as a photographer. From my beginnings as a NorCal wedding photographer, venturing into luxury destination weddings, each experience has shaped me, honing my skills and expanding my creative vision. Every couple I have worked with has left a lasting impression on me, and I am grateful for the privilege of being able to document their love stories.
As I write this blog post, I cannot help but feel a deep sense of satisfaction. The journey of capturing Kaity and Zach’s engagement photos was an adventure filled with unexpected twists and turns. But it was precisely those elements that made it all the more memorable and unique. The rain-soaked surroundings, the laughter, the love – all came together to create a story that is truly theirs.
Being a part of Kaity and Zach’s journey, even for just a brief moment, has reinforced my passion for photography. It is not just about taking pictures; it is about breathing life into moments and capturing the essence of love. No matter the location, whether I am photographing in the Bay Area, Austin, Texas or Santorini, Greece, the connection I forge with the couples I work with transcends boundaries.
As I conclude this post, I cannot help but recount the significance of this moment. The intertwining of our lives, even through the tiniest of threads, is a testament to the power of storytelling and the beauty of human connection. To Kaity and Zach, I am immensely grateful for allowing me to be a part of their journey. And to all of those who have followed Zach Shallcross and Kaity Biggar on The Bachelor, thank you for joining us in celebrating their love.
As a luxury destination wedding photographer, I have had the privilege of witnessing love in its purest form, capturing emotions that words often fail to express. I am blessed to have such extraordinary opportunities and I look forward to the countless stories yet to be told through my lens. May of 2024, I had the incredible pleasure of photographing Sarah and Richie’s intimate elopement at the historic Santa Barbara Courthouse. This beautiful venue, nestled in one of my all-time favorite cities, provided the perfect setting for their love story. With its Spanish-Moorish architecture and lush gardens, the Santa Barbara Courthouse is a stunning backdrop […]
